GN’s Peanut Butter Deluxe is a healthy peanut butter combining all natural ingredients derived from premium grade peanuts (and not the shitter grades which are used in most supermarket versions).

The bottom line?

A high quality source of protein with greater nutritional benefits.

It comes packed in a 500g tub priced at £6.99 and is available in four mouth-watering flavours including: ‘Chocolate Fudge’, ‘Millionaires Shortbread’, ‘Toffee Crunch’ and ‘White Chocolate’.

The Peanut Butter Deluxe is a fairly new addition to the GoNutrition product line and in this review, I’ll be focusing on the Millionaires Shortbread flavour.

Overall, these macros are pretty standard for a nut butter.

Whilst the Peanut Butter Deluxe contains roughly the same amount of protein as a normal supermarket peanut butter, it does have a slightly higher carb level than normal.

It is also worth pointing out that whilst the sugar level is hovering on the low end, it is still higher than your average supermarket brand.

The good thing is:

The Peanut Butter Deluxe consists of healthy and natural fats (derived from extra virgin coconut and rapseed oil rather than from solely palm oil).

This means there’s a greater balance between mono- and polyunsaturated fats compared to saturated fats which can cause long-term health problems.

In effect, the wider ratio of fats means that you’ll be able to get all the nutrients you need to support lean muscular growth.

All-in-all, these numbers are great if you are on the bulk but could throw you off if you are not careful while you are cutting.

Ingredients

GoNutrition’s Peanut Butter Deluxe contains skimmed milk powder (although this is strangely not mentioned on site) which certainly adds to the protein density.

It also steers clear of all the unnecessary crap I spoke of earlier, instead consisting of natural ingredients including cocoa, unrefined sugar, natural vanilla extract and sea salt to give it that extra kick.

So it all adds up to this:

Good, no-nonsense ingredients.

Taste and texture

With the ingredient and macro numbers looking good so far, how does it taste?

Well, the taste of the GoNutrition Peanut Butter Deluxe is certainly top draw.

As it contains virtually no artificial ingredients, it has a slightly premium and smoother taste when compared to common supermarket brands.

Even with the Millionaire Shortbread pieces in it, I was instantly staggered at just how delicious (and slightly crunchy) it was, like a Twix Peanut Butter and Chocolate Bar.

Having said that:

With the mix of chocolate and biscuit pieces all rolled into the peanut butter, the sight does not warrant a healthy product, but it does obviously come without all the guilt.

Perfect.

So, how do you tuck into it?

The Peanut Butter Deluxe makes an excellent calorie-packed addition to pancakes, wholemeal bread or a homemade protein shake.

For me personally, though, it tastes great on its own – just get a spoon and dig in!

Effectiveness

As the GoNutrition Peanut Butter Deluxe contains a high level of healthy calories and comes free from the added junk found in traditional nut butters, it will not fail in adding some extra mass to your frame.

In particular:

The high protein content and above average carb and sugar levels will take full advantage of a heightened insulin sensitivity post workout aiding anabolic muscular growth and repair.

On the flip side, as mentioned earlier, is that if you’re looking to get shredded you should avoid this stuff.

Why I hear you ask?

The Peanut Butter Deluxe is so ridiculously addictive you’ll find it difficult to stop reaching for more.

Value for money

The Millionaire Shortbread flavour oozes with quality and certainly tastes like a more luxurious nut butter which comes with an honest set of ingredients to hit your goals effectively.
